1985 – Incorporated in March. Originally the business was primarily engineering and consulting to automotive and electronics manufacturers.
1986 – Started a manufacturing facility in addition to the existing engineering facility and began light fabrication of hardware for the equipment we were supplying to automotive and electronics manufacturers.
1989 – STI moved into a new facility with initial square footage of 8,500 square feet for manufacturing and 2,000 square feet of office space with expansion capability up to 4o,000 square feet as business dictates.
1994 – Phase 1 expansion was completed in the fall with the addition of 7,000 square feet of manufacturing space bringing the total to 14,000 square feet (excluding office space).
1995 – Phase expansion of both engineering and manufacturing capabilities with the opening of a 5,000 square foot facility in Roanoke, Virginia called Systems Technology of Virginia.
1999 – Systems Technology of Virginia purchased an 8,000 square foot building just outside of Roanoke and occupied the building in August of 2000.
1999 – Attained I.S.O 9002 certification in May.
2003 – Attained I.S.O 9001/2000 certification.
2007 – Sold STI of Virginia llc to the minority member in January
2010 – Attained I.S.O 9001/2008 certification.
2017 – Attained I.S.O AS9100 C certification.
2018 – Attained AS9100D quality standard.
2019 – Grant Farnaby, son of Melvin Farnaby, will become the new President and CEO of the company. Grant has over 25 years of experience at STI and embodies the same commitment to excellence and innovation as his father.
2023 – Attained AS9001D & ISO 9001:2015 Certification
